We all haven't got time to meet set classroom appointments and so learning it as you go is ideal for a lot of us. Reading between Gareth's lines I assume you then have to use your spare time to research and develop your language skills further. That approach would suit me fine although being a permanent fixture in Thailand helps. I've been trying to comment on Bernd's last Ratchaprasong update but the comment box isn't there. I've had many emails from friends of those interviewed, saying that the language skills quoted have been toned down a fair bit. It could be due to a normally modest personality. Or perhaps the more they know, the more they realise that they don't know. Or a combo. I'm not a classroom person either. Some can buckle down and devote the time; I never know what's going to happen from week to week. Modesty does seem to be one of the themes rolling around the interviews. Interesting that the classroom side of things didn't work out well for him. Perhaps many of us just assume it will 'sort it all out' when perhaps it might not be the best approach to take.
